Pleasant Grove is similar to many other communities in Utah in that it was settled by Mormon pioneers. The area was first names “Battlecreek” in reference to the first conflict in Utah between the Indians and Pioneers. The city, later became known as Pleasant Grove due to the welcoming grove of trees that originally attracted earlier settlers with promise of water and fertile soil. Pleasant Grove was officially incorporated on January 19, 1855. Today, the city continues to be a wonderful place to live with its beautiful location at the base of the Wasatch Mountains and easy access to the I-15. Travelers and residents can easily recognize this inviting city as it rests under a large white “G” painted on the foothills above.
